Homemade Beauty Recipes From A Plastic Surgeon

Andrew Ordon is a plastic surgeon and beauty expert from ‘The Doctors’ talk show, and he shares with us amazing homemade beauty recipes.

It may go against his profession, but Ordon pushes a more natural and less invasive approach to skin care. Also, he recommends medical tourism, because rest is an absolute benefit for beauty.

He expounds on this in his new book Better in 7: The Ultimate 7 Day Guide to a Better You. Here are some of his DIY recipes that can help remove dark circles under your eyes, give you shiny hair and smoother skin.

The best part is being able to complete the recipes from ingredients found in your own pantry.

Avocado-Honey Moisturizer

Having a moisturizer is a must-have for anti-aging. It helps your skin retain moisture which makes your skin look smooth. Patients love this recipe because it gives their skin a youthful glow.

3 tbsp of fresh cream

1 tbsp honey

1/4 avocado

Blend all three ingredients and puree until smooth. Apply on skin and leave on for an hour. Rinse off with warm water.

Wrinkle Fighting Salad

Have this for breakfast to jumpstart your day. This healthy salad is full of antioxidants which protect your skin from sun exposure and boost your blood circulation. Good circulation helps in the delivery of essential nutrients to your skin.

1/2 cup strawberries

1/2 cup blueberries

1/2 cup organic orange juice

1 kiwi, chopped and peeled

1/2 cup pomegranate seeds

a handful of chopped walnuts

Combine kiwi, pomegranate seeds, blueberries and strawberries in a small bowl. Add the orange juice over the mixture and top with walnuts.

Acne Spot Treatment

When you have a zit that you want to get rid off, this recipe will do the trick. Ordon picked this up from beauty expert Kym Douglas while they were in the green room at ‘The Doctors’ talk show.  The yeast removes bacteria, and the lemon dries up the blemish.

A squeeze of lemon juice

Brewer’s Yeast

Make a paste with a little amount of brewer’s yeast, a squeeze of lemon juice, and filtered water. Apply the mixture directly to the problem area and leave on for 10 minutes.

Basil Toner

A great recipe for acne prone skin. The basil is your antiseptic which helps clear bacteria that causes acne. It also boosts circulation to your skin.

3 tbsps dried basil leaves

1 cup boiling water

Crush your dried basil leaves and put them in a cup of boiling water. Let the mixture cool down first, then proceed to strain out the leaves. Put the mixture in a spray bottle and spritz on your skin. Use a cotton ball to spread your toner gently around your face. You can do this daily before cleansing.

Lemon Agave For Age Spots

Our hands giveaway our age in an instant. This scrub can help improve age spots including your hands. Exfoliating your hands removes the top layer of dead skin. The rice exfoliates, the agave hydrates and the lemon lightens the skin.

1 tbsp lemon juice

1 tbsp agave nectar

1/2 cup cooked rice

Mix all of your ingredients and blend well. Apply the mixture on your dry hands. Scrub in circular motions including the back of your hands. Place firm but gentle pressure for one to two minutes. You can also use the rice to soften calluses.

Almond Sugar Face Scrub

You need regular exfoliation to help get rid of dead skin cells. Skin will look brighter and smoother after using the scrub.

3 tbsps of fresh cream

1 cup of white sugar

1/2 cup of ground almonds

1/2 cup of brown sugar

2 tbsps olive oil

Mix all your ingredients well. Apply to dry face in circular motion. Wash your face using warm water, then cold. Pat your face dry. Place the mixture in a jar and refrigerate for future use.

Coconut Deep Conditioner

A natural conditioner that makes your hair smooth, shiny and hydrated. Use once a week for beautiful and lustrous hair.

1 tbsp coconut oil

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 tbsp coconut extract

Mix all ingredients, apply and cover your scalp with a Saran Wrap. Leave on hair for about 20 to 30 minutes then rinse hair.

Java Lip Exfoliator

Make your lips look plump and pinker and get rid of dead skin. This recipe will give you those kissable lips that many aspire for.
